| Trade Nominee Ron Kirk to Pay $10,000 in Back TaxesRon Kirk, nominated as U.S. Trade Representative in the Obama administration, owes an estimated $10,000 in back taxes from earlier in the decade. AP Monday, March 02, 2009 WASHINGTON -- Ron Kirk, nominated as U.S. Trade Representative in the Obama administration, owes an estimated $10,000 in back taxes from earlier in the decade and has agreed to make his payments, the Senate Finance Committee said Monday. The committee said the taxes arise from Kirk's handling of speaking fees that he donated to his alma mater, and for his deduction of the full cost of season tickets to the Dallas Mavericks professional basketball team. The disclosure made the former Dallas mayor the latest in a string of top-level Obama administration appointees found to have underpaid their taxes, following Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle, who withdrew as candidate for Health and Human Services secretary. Nancy Killefer, Obama's pick for chief performance officer, also bowed out amid tax problems. There was no immediate reaction from the White House to the underpayments, which were uncovered by the committee's staff in a review of Kirk's nomination papers. Despite the error, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, issued a statement calling Kirk "the right person for this job," and said he would attempt to have the nomination moved through the panel quickly. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/02/trade-nominee-ron-kirk-pay-taxes/ |

| What on earth is wrong with Obama? I am beginning to believe he is as crocket as the people he is selecting for his cabinet. It just doesn't seem to bother him whatsoever. Has he once apologized for any of his poor selections. And he always stands behind these tax cheater's.
A mistake is a mistake, but these crooks he is selecting (and being approved) had absolutely no intentions of paying what they owed until they were nominated.
They knew they owed the IRS yet they ignored it. It's disgusting. What does this say about Obama and his administration? Please tell me. I am totally confused why these people are getting a pass not only by the IRS but by the President and the American people.
They are getting away with whatever interest, penalties or possibly jail time the average person would face.
How they can show their face's in public is beyond me. Why they get away with it is beyond me. Why Obama is OK with these tax cheaters is really suspicious. The American people need to wake up and ask why these tax cheaters are being rewarded with jobs after breaking the law.
I really mean it when I ask, why is it ok? It is beyond comprehension.
Clinton was nicknamed "Slick Willie" Obama is most certainly the "Teflon King" And so are the people that work for him.
This should not be OK with anyone one of us. It's not right and it's not fair. |

| It's so hard to swallow that so many government officials don't pay their taxes. You or I would be in jail!
This is a disgrace and shows just how 'honest' these people are! | |
