If this doesn't scare you then I don't know what to say. There are too many of these incidents being missed in the past year.

So many things scare me about this I don't know where to begin. It also scared me last December when the US ignored warnings by the family of the underwear bomber that their son was a danger. That family went out of their way to warn officials and they did nothing.

Is it a case of these people in charge of protecting us and the country not caring, being incompetent, being lazy or just stupid?

The fact that for the second time since December we got lucky even though no one was aware that these terrorist attacks were about to happen scares the hell out of me.

If it weren't for the fact that the bomb in Times Square and the plane bomb didn't go off as planned it would have been a very different story today. If these guy's had known what they were doing we would have had a plane blown up and who knows how many people killed and injured in New York over the weekend.

It was pure luck, plain and simple. It had nothing to do with intelligence, watch lists, no fly lists or anything else that is supposed to be watching out for these terrorists and protecting us.

Unfortunately despite the red flags surrounding the Ft. Hood Terrorist he managed to carry out his act of terrorism.

No one stopped or prevented this attack in Tines Square, the guy just didn't know what he was doing and the bomb didn't go off. So there are no hero's in the prevention of this failed attack. It was just pure luck again, same as the underwear bomber on Christmas day. It all comes down to incompetence. If he had known what he was doing it would have blown up before anyone even noticed smoke.

They did do a great job in following the clue's and finding this piece of crap. But how on earth did they manage to lose him while they had him under surveillance?

How on earth did he manage to get away from them and manage to board that plane even though he had been put on the NO FLY LIST? How did he get past security? The plane had already pulled away from the gate.

If the airline hadn't alerted officials because they found it suspicious that he had purchased a last minute one way ticket with cash to Pakistan via Dubai he would have gotten away.

I still don't understand how they lost him while they had him under surveillance, I would love to know how that happened.

I agree with Janey in some of what she says.

When people are crazy, there are signs of it in their everyday life and you really don't have to look far to see it. I don't think, however, that you can blame that on the people in charge.

The crazies obviously are among us ....always have been and unfortunately likely always will be. Wouldn't you think SOMEONE who has contact with these people would notice it? From their actions? Their words? The way they react to seemingly small events as they go about their pitiable lives?

And, yes. It scares me.

I agree with Janey on this one. I just can't understand how these people who are listed on No Fly lists keep getting on planes, and I fly a lot so it scares the hell out of me. I liked this little email my best friend's boyfriend sent me that talked about saving lives and saving money in airports. It said that we should have these body detectors that everyone has to walk through, and that if they have any type of residue or explosive on them they container closes around them and they explode. No racial profiling, no one having to be touched all over, no basic strip down, no body x-rays, just everyone walk through and if you are carrying explosives bye bye. Love the idea.
