Obama helps clear path for abducted child to be returned

Sean Goldman was a 4 year old child who's mother abducted him to Brazil. For 4 years now the father has exhausted every avenue to have his son returned to him. The mother managed to obtain a Brizilian divorce and marry a prominent lawyer. The lawyer had a new birth certificate issued for Sean naming him as the father of the child. There seemed no end to the nightmare. The mother has now died in childbirth for a second child but the nightmare persists as the Brazilian goverment stands by the birth certificate and buries the case in long waits and allows this lawyer who is no blood relationship to Sean to continue the role of the father. Sean has been by international law kidnapped.

As busy as our President is in just a short time in office, he has already acknowledged this case and found the time to work with the government of Brazil to take steps to resolve this situation. Because of his intervention, Sean's father now finally after 4 horrible years has been allowed to visit and hold his son. He still faces a custody battle in a country he knows nothing about to regain his son and return this American citizen to his home. I think its wonderful that President Obama has taken up this fight for Sean and for his father. This shouldn't happen to anyone.

This story just broke my heart when it aired the first time on Dateline a week or so ago. Then they mentioned on a recent update on Dateline that Hilary Clinton was working with the father to get help get his son back. I'm really glad to know that President Obama is getting involved as well. Good for him!

The father truly loves his little boy, and by all appearances he really is a devoted father, and one of the few that really knows how to be a daddy. My prayers are with him.

That's awesome. I saw the interview last week I think it was on Dateline or something and it broke my heart. I pray it works out and he gets his baby back. There aren't that many good men in this world that want their children so I pray it works for him.
