Obama Muslim Outreach Coordinator Under Fire for Meeting With Extremists
Barak Obama's Muslim outreach adviser is under fire for meeting with Islamic groups with extremist views, just months after her predecessor resigned for links to a radical cleric.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/10/obamas-muslim-outreach-coordinator/

Now, before you go rolling your eyes and saying "Fox News, what do you expect?" read the article. They aren't making this stuff up.

Obama IS the media's darling, and the man is dangerous! I love the way that once things are revealed, the campaign says "Oh we wouldn't have gone if we'd have known..." but is there any public repudiation of the group? Is there any clear statement of "what they're doing and saying is wrong!"

I don't trust Obama, and I really don't understand how others can!

Since 9/11, there has been a tremendous disenfranchment of Muslim people, American citizens, living in the US. I've had friends shouted down walking on the street and ethnically profiled getting on planes.

In an article, a Syrian student said that after 8 years of the Bush administration, Muslim and Arab Americans, like others, have been counting on a breath of fresh air to come their way so that they might feel safe and welcome in their own homes once more.

I can only guess what it must be to be suspect simply because of your skin color, your dress, or your religion. To be black before the Civil Right Movement, to be a Japanese/American living in the US during WWII, the Hmong people in my own city are still being called "gooks" and having their cars defaced.

For this reason, Obama set up a Muslin outreach program within the US to address these and other concerns.

At this particular meeting, several people allegedly having ties with "terrorist" groups were in attendance (and I am a little suspect of Fox News deciding which of those attending has "ties to terrorist groups.")

But even at that, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said the campaign would not have sent a representative to the meeting had it known the list of participants. "This meeting was not organized by the campaign -- our outreach staff attends many meetings in the course of each day and they accepted an invitation from community leaders to attend,"

Basically, An Obama volunteer Muslin outreach coordinator attended a meeting, one of many that day, that was also attended by several people who may have ties to extremists groups in the Middle East. Had she know they were at the meeting, she would have not gone.

Renee, I am sorry that you are so upset about this, but I just don't see this as a "Obama can't be trusted" story.

Yesterday on the news from a McCain rally, when a lady told John that Obama was an Arab. McCain shook his head no and said "Obama was an honorable man and could be trusted to be president." Of course he then said, he thought he could do a better job as president that's why he was running.

I can't understand personally how anyone likes Palin! She licks her lips and winks and flirts. I thought women didn't like women who did this kind of stuff.

For the record, I'm dissatisfied with the candidates for both parties.

FOX News = National Enquirer for television news.

Howdy Joe! It is so incredibly GOOD to see you posting.......you are such an important part of this board! love

Anyway, I will be totally open about how I feel......I have not felt so optimistic about a candidate since JFK......Barack Obama is a super intelligent man and he has the skills to get this nation back on track. Have you read his book "The Audacity of Hope"? If not, I highly encourage you to do so because it really shows in Barack's own words where he's coming from and his outlook on many issues. It really saddens me the way the Republican party is trying to demonize this man.

I completely agree with you about Fox News.

I did read that, and at the time, I was excited about Obama. I thought he was a man who could make a change. Since then I realize that it's easy to put a message out there; the truth can be very different.

I love how easy it is for people to dismiss Fox News. Just because you don't like the message doesn't make it untrue. I actually trust Fox News more than the networks news, for the simple fact that I see the bias there, just as I'm sure you see bias on Fox. What I wouldn't do for the days when NO bias was allowed in journalism!

Spongie, I have absolutely NO problem with proactively helping our fellow citizens who happen to be Muslim. Three days after 9/11 our priest was issuing challenges to help our neighbors who might be feeling afraid to go shopping. Again, our area of California is unique in that our politics are conservative (one of the few red counties in last election) yet our truth is very tolerant. My daughters made the comment to me that they just don't SEE prejudice; a snapshot I took once when Rebecca was performing for the Marines at Camp Pendleton said it all to me. In one random picture, there was a veritable smorgasbord of ethnicities and religions, yet the kids had no awareness of this. They are all just kids.

I bring this up as background; I have to remember that just because I live in an area that is both conservative and tolerant doesn't mean everywhere else is. My best friend lives in Kentucky and is a Buddhist. She faces a kind of prejudice that FLOORS me.

But at the same time, my reality is true for a lot of Americans. I think it's important that others remember that, too.

I do take umbrage with the comment about after "8 years of Bush" they were looking for a breath of fresh air. President Bush didn't create this environment; an unprovoked attack on our country by Muslim extremists did. It's not fair but it's the expected fallout. Those extremists created this environment of fear and distrust, leaving it to the good and decent Muslim Americans to suffer.

The reason that I'm so upset about this is that is shows a pattern. Ayers, ACORN, Wright, now this. Obama has a lot of connections with questionable people and events, then plays dumb. I really do not understand how that's allowed to slide.

Hello sweet Joe! I've missed you so much! It's really good to see you here.

That said.... stun sniff

I'm a woman who licks my lips and winks and flirts. There are a whole lot of women who do that and it's not offensive. I for one love seeing a woman who embraces all parts of her femininity and doesn't freaking apologize for it. Who the hell says women have to be asexual to be tough? Give me a woman who embraces everything it means to be a woman and still is strong....

Oh wait....that's me danc

This is actually an amazing insight that I think sheds light on part of the Palin Prejudice. First, I hate feminists. You have to know that about me. I think that early on, feminists did amazing things; then it turned into man hating asexuality. That is SO not for me. I LOVE and ADORE men. I love everything about them. It's a part of me, and I've never wanted to be any way else.

But there are many women who have buried their femininity "to be tough". They've chosen to asexualize themselves in the name of "professional demeanor". Whatever.

There's one hell of a lot of power just being a woman, and this was something that feminists buried. For me to see a woman who embraces that...hell yeah I'm loving her!

Hey Pumpkin, many people are pointing at this campaign, saying McCain/Palin are inciting this type of anger. The truth is, the anger is out there and growing. Like myself, they can't believe that Obama is leading in the polls; it's unreal to me that so much of his behavior is given a nod and a pass. I think many people figured it would never get this far, and now they're realizing we could be stuck with this guy. Hence the anger.

This next month is going to be hairy. I am just so glad here we can discuss the issues without the issues dividing us. I love each and every one of you, and I feel like I can post my honest beliefs here and you'll still love me.

That's why I would never leave this place!
