Kidnap victim, children kept in backyard compound

I haven't read about this fully yet...but this happens in AMERICA!!?? Neighbors hinted to the police and nothing was ever done??!!

When you get to see this on TV, you'll understand. The police chief even apologized profusely to the victim and her family that she wasn't located about a year, year & a half ago.

The back yard is a maze of sheds.

This poor girl lived out in the back yard for 18 years. The man who took her is a religious fanatic (they compared him to the guy who took Elizabeth Smart), and she was only 11 and waiting for her school bus when she was taken by this monster and his wife (who he met when he was in prison and she was visiting someone else...they got married while he was in prison).

She had two children in those 18 years. I haven't seen a clear picture as to how old they might be, but they aren't toddlers.

My heart aches for what this poor woman went through, along with her family, but my heart also is filled with happiness that she was able to get away from this man and woman who held her captive all those years and that she is reunited with her family (who must be totally stunned after all these years that she was found alive).

This story really makes your stomach turn that someone could rip a person from their life for 18 years for their own perverted enjoyment.

I believe the children are about 1o and 15 - something like that. They are both girsl and the chances of also suffering sexual abuse are obvious. They were born in that shed and have never seen a doctor or gone to school. And of course the woman hasnt either since the age of 11. She learned to survive by being a victim - even developing a bond with the man who fathered her children. She probably could have left long ago but knows no other life. Amazing story. I wish her peace and love in her new life. I can't imagine the shock of her mother after all these years.
