Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State...

...yay or nay?

Yay for me. I'm a Hillary supporter.

I actually hope he offers her the position. Hillary really gained my respect during the primaries, when, in all honesty, I had no use for her before. But she's tough, and we need someone who won't be a pushover.

Plus, it could mend a lot of fences for Obama politically with women who were upset that Hillary didn't get the nomination.

I haven't been very happy with many of Obama's appointees so far. He talks of change then rebuilds with Clinton leftovers. Ironically, as much as I think that's a waste, I think Hillary would be a brilliant choice.

I was under the impression that he has offered the position to her, but she has not decided yet. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought.

It's a choice for her. As the NYTimes said today - as Secretary of State she works for the President, as senator, she works for herself and the people who elected her.

Yes, Hillary was offered the position, and now needs to decide if she wants it.

What Bill is doing is becoming a big part of the vetting of Hillary. He would need to open up his personal business dealings to scrutiny, curtail speeches and fund raising for his causes/library, particularly from foreign countries.. be open to ethics review.... There could be NO indication that monies was changing hands and favors paid. Bill would need to basically sit out the next 4 to 8 years so Hillary would not be compromised. This is really something to ask a former president to do.

Bill says he is willing to do what ever Obama and Hillary decide. This is actually very big of him. This is Hillary's time, but again, to be put under that kind of scutiny for the next 4 to 8 years is a lot to ask of the former President of the United States...

I think she will ultimately remain in the Senate.

I think its possible he made the offer knowing she'd never take it. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about but this doesn't seem big enough for Hillary. She wants the whole enchildada.

I agree, Hilary has always wanted the whole enchilada. Hillary's plan for the run for the White House has been in the works for years, all the way back to while Bill was still President.

And it was all going according to plan until out of nowhere comes this guy named Barack Hussein Obama. He wasn't part of their plan. Boy did he throw a wrench in it.

She made it to the Senate, got elected for a second term and next step was the run for President.

Sure she knew Obama was a raising star within the party, no way did she even think he would begin his run for President almost the minute he got into the Senate.

I am sure she assumed he would at least be in the Senate long enough to at least fulfill some of the promises he made during his Senate campaign.

I can't see her taking this job with Obama. She likes her Independance and pretty much being her own boss. She may take it, I don't know any more then any of you do if she will or not. But I can't see her going to work for Obama.

Plus I don't see it as an advantage for her. She is much better off staying as she is, it's pretty much a job for life. Plus she would be better served running for Mayor or even Governer should she decide later on that she wants to do something else. That would be a much better idea if she still wants to run for the White House down the road.

I think Obama offered Hillary this job to keep tabs on her and get her out of the Senate. I don't think he trusts her to side with him.

Sure it's a great position, but it's not what she wanted....
It's not the President and that's the job she wants.
